Propuesta de Intervención Urbana en el Eje de la Av. Cristóbal Colón en la Parroquia Yaruquíes – Riobamba.

As a result of the development of cities, the urban territory has expanded over time towards the peripheries causing an uncontrolled urban growth; because of this growth, the lack of infrastructure, equipment, public space, and green areas in peri-urban areas is reflected, in addition to the increase in the use of private transportation causing environmental impacts. This work is based on research that aims to improve public space and increase green areas and equipment in the central urban area of “Yaruquíes”. Specifically, the study is divided into four stages: first, the conceptualization of public space and the factors that compose it; second, the development of a methodology based on different criteria of theories such as Jan Gehl, Enrique Minguez Arquitectos, Augusta Hermida among others, which serves to determine the valuation of the quality and function of public space; thirdly, a diagnosis and evaluation of the intervention area is carried out in order to identify the problems and needs of the people; finally, the criteria obtained in the previous chapters are applied to generate an adequate urban intervention along the axis of study, which are able to solve the needs of the area.
