There seems to be a consensus that its prevalence is between 70 and 90%, mainly in the adolescent population that begins puberty, being the most affected group, although it extends a little further extending to 19 years and having a presence in the first years of adulthood. The type of acne that has the highest prevalence and frequency in the adolescent population is classified as acne vulgaris. A descriptive, cross-sectional field investigation was carried out with a cohort design. The general objective was to determine the prevalence of acne in adolescents who attend the Provincial General Teaching Hospital Riobamba December 2018 - May 2019, and three specific objectives were covered; define the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of the sample; identify the number and type of acne cases that occur in the population under study and establish prognostic factors for acne in the study population. The results showed a prevalence of 34% of acne in a group of 44 adolescents, with a 52% presence in the male gender and 48% in female, placing 70% in the age group of 14 to 16 years and 30 % from 17 to 18, belonging in 97% to the urban environment and 3% to the rural, of ethnic origin mestizo in 97% and 3% indigenous.
