Estudio de la toponimia de los accidentes geográficos de la parroquia Flores, cantón Riobamba, provincia de Chimborazo

The investigative work is based mainly on collecting information about the origin and meaning of the Flores parish's geographical accidents, Riobamba canton. This study is to rescue and preserve the toponymy of this area. Each of the geographical accidents is important for the inhabitants Since they represent the history of the cultural groups that inhabit the locality and maintain their Kichwa language. Once the investigation is completed, the information on the geographical accidents can be filed in the files of the INPC of the parish. The research mainly took into account the author Paola Duque in her study entitled "The origins and forms of the Kichwa-Purúha language" to differentiate the toponymy of the geographical features in Kichwa and Puruhá, taking into account the ending of the words and identify to which toponymy each one of the geographical features belongs. In the investigative work, we used the ethnographic and descriptive methods, which allowed us to collect information about the parish. All this information was obtained thanks to the direct interaction with the inhabitants of the investigated parish. Also, the application of unstructured interviews was essential, which were directed to the residents, especially the elderly and parish councils. At the end of the investigation, we found that the Flores parish has 25 toponyms of geographical accidents, 17 of which are in Kichwa and 8 in Purúha. We also began to transcribe and fill in the information on the estates of the National Heritage Institute.
