| Shrnutí: | ABSTRACT Introduction: On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization recognized as a pandemic due to the massive infections generated by the coronavirus COVID-19. The psychological impact that the population presents due to the pandemic can be very variable, some sectors of the population are more affected than others on a psychological level, as observed in front-line health professionals, patients, people in isolation or with suspicion, relatives and friends of infected people. Objective: The main objective of this study is to determine the alterations in the mental health of health personnel who worked in the COVID-19 hospital area. Methodology: The present study is descriptive, corresponds to a quantitative, cross-sectional and retrospective design since it will be studied in an established time frame and the information will be obtained by applying the DASS-2 Scale to 73 health professionals. health that meet the inclusion criteria. Results: According to the sociodemographic data, there was a predominance of people between 25-35 years old, the female sex prevailed, most of them have a married marital status, in relation to the employment status, the vast majority have a contract and in relation to Nursing assistant and resident doctor predominated in the positions held. While the DASS-21 scale showed as results that depression registers 43.6% distributed in the different subscales, anxiety is present in 66% and stress registers 55.8%. Conclusions: As a result of such a large event, there were alterations in the mental health of health workers, generating symptoms of depression, stress, anxiety and insomnia that fell on the nursing staff, assistants and resident doctors due to the heavy workload, and other factors that led to this event.
