要約:ABSTRACT: Pregnancy in adolescence is a global health problem, and in Ecuador, it increases the risk of maternal, fetal, and newborn morbidity and mortality, which may endanger their lives. The complications experienced by newborns of teenage mothers can affect the child's normal psychomotor development. This research aimed to carry out a bibliographic review to obtain updated information on the complications suffered by newborns of adolescent mothers. An essential, descriptive, documentary, and transversal research consisting of a non-systematic bibliographic review was conducted to obtain information related to the study's objective. The universe was made up of a total of 97 documents, and 57 of them became part of the research sample. Information was obtained from articles in journals indexed in high-impact databases (Scopus, Medline, PubMed, and Ice Web of Science) and regional databases (Latindex, Lilacs, Scielo, and Redalyc). The main results highlight the physiological characteristics of adolescent mothers that increase the risk of complications in newborns, the main complications that occur in newborns of teenage mothers, and the establishment of patterns of association between the physiological characteristics of adolescent mothers and the main difficulties of newborns. To conclude, there are multiple complications that newborns can suffer, which are related to physiological changes that occur during adolescence.
