| Zusammenfassung: | In Ecuador, according to a study published in 2021, a parasitism rate of 85.7% was recorded in children, affecting both school-aged and preschool-aged children. In areas with limited resources, deworming programs are targeted towards school students due to their high susceptibility to enteroparasitic infections. The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of intestinal parasitosis post-treatment in students of the Unidad Educativa Reino de Bélgica, located in Guano city, Chimborazo province, period 2023. A coproparasitological analysis was conducted on a population of 94 students, using a sample composed of 24 individuals who participated in the first cohort, aged between 4 and 11 years old. The research was characterized as descriptive, field, longitudinal, ambispective and quantitative. Fecal specimen collection was performed on each individual, followed by analysis using four techniques: direct examination with saline and iodine solution, modified Ritchie, Kato Katz, and modified Ziehl Neelsen. The results showed an increase in total prevalence from 87.5% to 91.67% after the intervention. It is concluded that this increase in parasitic prevalence could indicate that during the six months after treatment, individuals were reinfected due to inadequate hygiene habits. Therefore, it is recommended to consider the administration of a second dose of antiparasitic medication and the implementation of sanitary campaigns to prevent transmission in the studied population. |
