The observation was used as tool and as instruments the revision of the medical records, the application of the quality of life and satisfaction questionnaire adapted by K. Figueredo and Cols 2008, 2017 and the semi-structured interview conducted by the authors. Data were tabulated, tables were drawn up with their corresponding analysis and discussion. Regarding the affected adaptive modes described by the nursing theorist Callista Roy related to the level of adaptation to the limitations in a scale of little 55.00%; The physiological mode is affected by the high consumption of carbohydrates 55.00% and soft drinks 52.50%, activity and physical exercise 30.00% they never do it, the mode of self-concept show changes in the person with 37 , 50%, with changes of character 45.00% related to moods, the mode of interdependence 30.00% there is not family support that is related to a lack of search for support systems and the therapeutic regimen. The role function mode was not affected. The results determined the need to design the guide called "Adaping to my disease", focused on nutrition, physical activity, emotional and family support, taking into account the level of instruction, simple and understandable language. |

Estudio de tipo descriptivo y transversal, la muestra está conformada por 40 pacientes diagnosticados de diabetes. Como herramientas se utilizaron la observación y como instrumentos la revisión de las historias clínicas, la aplicación del cuestionario de calidad de vida y satisfacción Adaptado por K. Figueredo y cols, 2008, 2017 y la entrevista semiestructurada realizada por las autoras, previo al consentimiento informado, se procedió a la tabulación de datos, elaboración de tablas, con sus respectivos análisis y discusión. Con relación a los modos adaptativos afectados descritas por la teorizante de enfermería Callista Roy, relacionado al nivel de adaptación a las limitaciones en una escala de poco el 55,00 %; el modo fisiológico está afectado por el alto consumo de carbohidratos 55,00 % y bebidas gaseosas 52,50 %, la actividad y ejercicio físico, el 30,00 % nunca lo realizan, el modo de autoconcepto, manifiestan cambios en su persona con 37,50 %, con cambios de carácter 45,00 %, relacionados a los estados de ánimo, el modo de interdependencia, el 30,00 % no tiene apoyo familiar, relacionando con un déficit de búsqueda de sistemas de apoyo y el régimen terapéutico; el modo de función de rol, no se vio afectado.
