Crynodeb:The family plays a crucial role in the social development of its members. This study explores how family social climate influences suicidal ideation in children and adolescents. For the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), suicide represents a growing threat to global public health, alarmingly affecting the young population. In Latin America, the figures are worrying, highlighting the need to implement effective prevention and treatment strategies. Likewise, we seek to deepen the relationship between the family environment and mental health, with the aim of contributing to the design of public policies and more effective intervention strategies in the family environment. This research aims to characterize the relationship between family social climate and suicidal ideation in children and adolescents, therefore a descriptive literature review was conducted. A database of 24 scientific articles from the last 10 years was consolidated: Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Redalyc, Dianelt, Scielo, ProQuest, ConcienciaDigital, among others. In addition, exclusion and inclusion criteria were applied with bibliographic review techniques and documentary quality review such as: the bibliographic review form, the CRF-QS matrix and the prism flow diagram. Three dimensions of the family social climate were identified: relationships, development and stability, finding a significant correlation between the development dimension and suicidal ideation. In addition, it was found that the prevalence of suicidal ideation in children and adolescents affected at least 9% of the world population. The different dimensions analyzed reveal a significant relationship between the quality of the family environment and suicidal ideation in children and adolescents. It was also identified that suicide is an alarming phenomenon, since the studies analyzed indicate that a high percentage of children and adolescents have experienced suicidal thoughts at some point in their lives.
