| Achoimre: | The present research study aimed to analyze the influence of bending forces on the strength of acrylic and bisacrylic resins. An analysis of the flexural strength of two groups of bisacrylic resins and one group of acrylic resins was carried out to achieve this objective. The methodology used was based on a mixed quasi-experimental approach. A total of 90 samples were worked with, distributed respectively in three groups: one of acrylic resin and two of acrylic resin; each group included 30 samples of the following materials: Structur 2 from VOCO, Protemp 4 from 3M, and Alike from GC. These samples were transferred to the stress and vibration analysis laboratory of the National Polytechnic School, where they were subjected to a three-point flexural strength test using a Shimadzu universal testing machine. This made it possible to determine the total fracture point of the material and calculate its resistance in megapascals; the results achieved were as follows: Structur 2 (88.4 MPa), Alike (79.2 MPa), and Protemp 4 (75.73 MPa). Consequently, it was concluded that bisacrylic resins, due to the amount and type of filler present in their composition, exhibit higher flexural strength than acrylic resins; in this study, Structure 2, belonging to the group of bisacrylic resins, showed the highest strength. As a recommendation for future research, another group of acrylic resins should be included to obtain a complete comparison between acrylic and bisacrylic resins in terms of flexural strength. |
