| Yhteenveto: | Dengue is an infectious disease considered a public health problem, transmitted by the bite of the mosquito A. aegyptis and A. albopictus, present in Ecuador. Descriptive, documentary, and non-experimental work, cross-sectional and retrospective, based on the information obtained from the epidemiological database of the Public Health District 23D01, to determine the behavior of dengue in the province of Santo Domingo de the Tsachilas between the years 2017-2018. The population and sample consisted of the cases diagnosed and included in said database, from which the information was descriptively collected and analyzed. The La Concordia canton was the one that presented the most cases of dengue (58%) among the periods studied, even though in 2018, the Santo Domingo canton reported the highest percentage (77%). 2017 there was an increase of cases on epidemiological weeks 16-20 with 23.3% and 21-25 with 25.3%. While 2018 there were few cases diagnosed all weeks. According to the dengue manifestations, the most reported was without alarm signs (98.89%), followed by alarm signs (1.03%) and severe with 0.07%. The age group, 20-49 years, was the most affected in this period. It is concluded that in 2017 more dengue cases were reported than in 2018; Dengue prevailed without warning signs, especially in ages between 20-49 years approximately. It was suggesting promoting Health Education campaigns, involving the Ministry of Public Health and pertinent authorities. |
