Итог:The discipline of Graphic Design is continuosly expanding due to its contribution in countless acts of daily life. The subject matter, Visual Communication, addresses issues essential in identity and information. In the process, the graphic designer is recognized as the encoder, who builds effective messages aimed at a particular target audience. During this creative process iconic, chromatic and linguistic codes are used. The research is outlined in the analysis of typography as an inspirational element in the designing concept. Text has the ability to accurately convey a message when the appropriate font family is used, unfortunately, it may lose effectiveness if not carefully chosen. Typography has "life". It is an element laden with significance. In the field of graphic design, it is a matter of proper management and professional development. The impulse to use experimental typography is part of the professional work of designers, and that is the goal of this research: to create a proposal for experimental typography which is able to focus on iconic elements of one of the most outstanding cultures of Ecuador, the Valdivia Culture. The process was viewed from an exploratory, analytical and synthetic approach; sustained by the theoretical framework used to understand and identify specific characteristics of the Valdivia culture. Semiotic analysis of the pottery and stone carvings allowed to define icons which in turn gave birth to complex matrix structures that served as typographical modular systems. Creativity which is a distinctive characteristic of the designers, is evident in the development of the proposal. The aim is to raise awareness of the Valdivia Culture through the letterings developed
