| Summary: | The current research aims to determine school anxiety in working memory in students at Educational Unit "Pensionado Americano International School" located in Riobamba; with the purpose of understanding how anxiety levels influence working memory and the relationship between these two variables in first year baccalaureate students. Considering the research is exploratory, descriptive and correlative, this study was carried out in two stages, in the first instance the anxiety levels of a total of 25 students of 1st Unified General Baccalaureate (11 women and 14 men), through the psychometric technique of the IAES School Anxiety Inventory, designed for the determination of school anxiety in young people between 12 and 18 years old; As a second stage, the retention and processing of temporary information in working memory of the same 25 students was evaluated with the application of the WISC-V test on the Wechsler Scale. The results obtained by a simple correlation between the school anxiety variable and working memory show an inverse relationship, because students with high levels of anxiety show a slow retention of information in working memory making it difficult their learning level in their school life. |
