| الملخص: | The present investigation was carried out in the National University of Chimborazo, this topic is of vital importance since there are no previous investigations about it, especially to establish a correlation between motivation and academic performance, from the theoretical point of view, the motivation is the ability that the individual has to be rational and conscious to make decisions (Morales, 2009), while academic performance is the demonstrated level of knowledge in a certain area, evidenced by quantitative indicators; methodologically it is a non-experimental design research; for the descriptive, correlational, bibliographic and field level of the cross-sectional study type because it was applied in a specific time and only once. The techniques used were; psychometric test with his Achievement Motivation Scale of Achievement of Manassero and Vásquez and the evaluation by means of the report cards. The population was composed by the students of the National University of Chimborazo and the sample was not probabilistic when selecting the units of analysis as were the 62 students of the third semester parallel "A" of the careers of Educational Psychology and Social Sciences in the subject of Educational psychology. The results of the motivation in their different attributions show that around 82% of students, are in a level of motivation that corresponds to fully satisfied, which means that the interest and effort, interaction with the teacher, influence of the peers , task, examination and collaborative interaction with peers is high; in terms of academic performance, most students are within a regular range with a percentage of 24% which means that students do not satisfactorily reach the level of performance. To establish the correlation, we used the statistical program SPSS where chi2 was obtained, which resulted in a low-average relationship between motivation and academic performance. |
