| Čoahkkáigeassu: | The municipality of Cevallos, Ecuador, is facing a crisis in managing urban solid waste due to the need for more accurate information regarding its per capita production and physical composition. With an economy based on textiles, agriculture, and tourism, the current waste collection and treatment system needs to be improved. The analysis of solid waste in Cevallos needs to be updated according to recommendations from entities such as the INEC and the OPS, as the lack of socioeconomic information complicates the stratification and precise lassification of waste. Furthermore, the design of collection routes has resulted in issues such as waste accumulation, foul odors, and the presence of fauna. The project entails a descriptive and quasi-experimental study that analyzes Cevallos's urban and socioeconomic characteristics. It reveals a local economy dominated by merchants, with notable differences in waste generation and composition among socioeconomic strata. The municipality has a diversified land use distribution across 76 blocks, with 72 exclusively residential. Within these, 52 belong to stratum C, representing 72.22% of the population. The socioeconomic survey indicates that 42% of occupations are in the merchant sector. A significant predominance of organic matter is observed in urban solid waste (USW), with substantial variations in the loose density of USW among strata. The weighted loose density of USW for the municipality in 2024 is estimated at 210.86 kg/m³. The Minitab program was employed to identify atypical data and thus bring the results closer to reality in the municipality to ensure the accuracy of the data obtained in the study.
