الملخص:This study entitled: Inhibition and social behavior of students attending their first semester in the Psychopedagogy major at National University of Chimborazo aimed to analyze the relationship between inhibitory control and adaptive behavior in university students. The methodology used responds to a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design. The study is described as descriptive, correlational, and transversal. This is also a field research. The sample was non-probabilistic and intentional, represented by the students attending their first semester in the Psychopedagogy major. The sample was made up of 31 students, including 6 men and 25 women. The study used psychometric tests namely: STROOP Colors and Words Test for inhibitory control and the Behavior Assessment System BASC with questionnaires S3, P3. The results suggest that there is a high percentage of resistance to positive interference in students whose range is between 0 and 8. This finding is outstanding since it suggests that participants are able to easily inhibit stimuli that interfere with their daily activities. In the same vein, results on behavior show a 58% where the characteristics are positive. These results reveal that participants are assertive, meaning that their behavior does not harm others and that they are able to comply with demands and adapt themselves to established social norms. It is determined that there is a statistically significant correlation between inhibitory control and adaptive behavior.
