| Summary: | ABSTRACT: Bioethical dilemmas are moral discrepancies to reach a possible solution, in the COVID-19 pandemic has presented different dilemmas in health care, intervening in different areas such as palliative care, limiting public health services. Nursing takes an important and fundamental role in patients hospitalized by COVID-19 to prevent, detect early signs and symptoms of the disease, so as to provide care and treatment, always with human quality, which is what characterizes a nurse. This new pathology caused by a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) began to appear in the city of Wuhan at the end of 2019; the first case was detected in Ecuador on February 29. It is transmitted after contact with contaminated objects and through respiratory droplets or from the mouth of those who are unprotected, being the main source of transmisión. The present bibliographic review was carried out with the aim of determining the main bioethical dilemmas during the provision of nursing care to patients hospitalized by COVID 19. The information was obtained from 59 bibliographic documents selected and published in different scientific databases: Scielo, Redalyc, Elseiver, Pubmed, Medline, Google Scholar, as well as national and international organizations, using inclusion and exclusion criteria. To address the main bioethical dilemmas that arise in nursing care in hospitalized patients by COVID-19 the main bioethical dilemmas were determined, associating them to the principles of bioethics, the main dilemmas were identified according to the criteria of different authors while establishing their coincidences, finding as the most relevant dilemmas: conflict in decision making, scarcity of health resources, considerations for mechanical ventilation, patient classification, resource distribution, use of unauthorized experimental treatments, insufficient nursing staffing, available supply of technological and human resources, among others. From this study it was concluded that nursing decisions associated with bioethical principles may have been favorable for many, but also unfavorable for others. Keywords: COVID-19, nursing care, bioethical dilemmas, palliative care, pandemic. |
