Conocimiento personal e influencia sociofamiliar en el estado de salud oral de escolares. sector 2. Riobamba, 2021

Resume the purpose of this research was to analyze the level of personal knowledge and socio-family influence on the oral health status of schoolchildren. the present investigation was descriptive and cross-sectional. the study population consisted of 100 schoolchildren with their representative and a total of 6 teachers corresponding to the eighth grade in sector 2 of the city of riobamba. the research was carried out by applying the observation technique and its instrument the clinical history to calculate the individual dmft index and the o'leary plaque index, in addition to the test and the survey with its instrument the questionnaire. the results of this research showed a regular knowledge of both teachers and students and a statistically significant relationship of the dmft index with the consumption of sweets (p = 0.024) and white bread (p = 0.004). it was concluded that oral health knowledge was not related to the hygiene practices applied by the students, since the level of the dmft index was low in 90% of the population, while the level of the plaque index was deficient in the 42% of schoolchildren. keywords: knowledge, oral health, dental caries, oral hygiene
