| Тойм: | Neurorehabilitation is an educational and dynamic process based on the adaptation of the individual and his environment in relation to neurological injuries or diseases, of which the diseases with the highest mortality rate are stroke and Parkinson's disease. Stroke is a brain injury caused by the interruption of blood flow and Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra, presenting bradykinesia, rigidity and slowness in movement. Motor imagery is a technique used in neurorehabilitation in which mental images are used to recover the motor functions that the patient has lost due to a brain injury or neurological disease. The objective of the research was to analyze the application of motor imagery as a physiotherapeutic technique for neurorehabilitation. The research was a documentary, bibliographic, cross-sectional study with an analytical, inductive approach at a descriptive level. The search included the use of databases such as Scopus, BioMed Central, PEDro, Dialnet, and ScienceDirect, from which 89 scientific articles were identified using the parameters established in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guide. The final selection included 35 articles, selected by applying the parameters of the PEDro scale and the Newcastle Ottawa scale for uncontrolled articles. In conclusion, Motor Imaging is an avant-garde technique that allows the recovery of the patient's motor function through mental evocation of movement. This technique in combination with other neurorehabilitation techniques shows promising results in the recovery of gait speed, step length, and control of bradykinesia in patients with Parkinson's disease. In the case of people with stroke, upper limb function, gait, coordination, and the performance of activities of daily living have been recovered. |
