Description
Summary:The general objective of this research work was to characterize the representations of the themes of Eros and Death in the novel Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez, which lies in unraveling the way in which Márquez interweaves eros and death as main themes to present his narrative. The methodology used followed a qualitative approach; therefore, it is based on a descriptive and documentary study. The corpus analyzed is constituted by the aforementioned novelistic work; in the analysis and interpretation of the data, hermeneutics was used with the use of literary analysis matrices based on the argumentation of each of the objectives. The results of the research indicated that these two categories, eros and death, are considered universal themes because they have been studied from different perspectives and therefore by different authors, being eros a feeling that transcends any limit, facing as the only challenge the inevitable reality of death, but at the same time Thanatos, not only represents the end of a relationship, but also the end of existence itself
