| description | ABSTRACT: The research work was carried out with the purpose of determining the effectiveness of multimodal exercise as part of the physiotherapeutic intervention in patients with Huntington's disease (HD), by means of the analysis of scientifically rigorous bibliographic sources. We used 35 articles obtained from different scientific databases, in such a way that the studies collected correspond to clinical trials that reflect the participation of patients in a physical rehabilitation program through structured training to verify the effects of multimodal exercise on the clinical manifestations of Huntington's disease. The evaluation of the articles to corroborate their methodological quality was carried out by using the PEDro scale, for which a score equal to or greater than 6 was obtained for its validity in scientific research. Multimodal exercise deals with the application of physical training that addresses a set of subtypes among them: aerobic, anaerobic, resistance, flexibility and balance, the physical activity is performed in a planned, structured and repetitive way that allows increasing the functional capacity of the body, so that it is presented as a therapeutic alternative in patients with Huntington's disease (HD), aimed at the recovery and control of choreic movements, stiffness and postural instability. According to the research, the authors indicate that the performance of multimodal exercise with adequate intensity and control of training caused a considerable improvement in the treatment of the symptoms of the disease in the involuntary movements known as Huntington's chorea (CH), behavioral and cognitive deficiencies, attributing results on mitochondrial and cardiovascular function, which are reflected in the present work. Consequently, the exercises produce a favorable impact on the physical, psychological, and social aspects that define the quality of execution of daily activities of each patient. |
