Resumo:Social interaction plays an important function within the teaching and learning process; it is defined as the essential basis of communication, socialization and coexistence. Therefore, this research focuses on “Describing social interaction and its influence on the academic performance of children in subinitial 1 of the “Cacique Pintag” Basic Education School in Riobamba canton” from the theoretical foundations that allow this research project to be carried out. guide on the importance of social interaction and its influence on academic performance in Initial Education. This research was developed under the “qualitative” methodological approach, bibliographic and field type. The instrument applied is the observation sheet aimed at the children of initial 1 participating in the research, in which it was possible to verify that social interaction in the educational process is relevant because it promotes positive coexistence between students, promotes relationships of trust, affection, companionship and friendship, respecting rules and norms established within the family, educational and social environment. Likewise, through this instrument it was significant to develop social interaction skills within the child's educational process from the initial level, accompanied by the practice of values and good customs that will help establish excellent social relationships.
