The main results obtained reveal that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant and measurable impact on the urban transportation sector in Riobamba, with the number of users as the variable that most influences the decrease in income, without leaving aside from the expenses variable, which is also statistically significant. These results are directly attributable to mobility restrictions, the change in the population's behavior patterns, and the fear of contagion. |

These results are directly attributable to mobility restrictions, the change in the population's behavior patterns, and the fear of contagion.RESUMEN: Esta investigación busca determinar el impacto directo que tuvo la crisis sanitaria del COVID 19 en la economía del sector transporte de la ciudad de Riobamba. Inicialmente se elaboró un análisis estadístico descriptivo, para posteriormente desarrollar un modelo de datos de panel con la información de las 7 compañías que prestan el servicio de transporte público en la ciudad de Riobamba, tomando como variable dependiente los ingresos y como independientes al número de pasajeros, número de vueltas y costos de transportación. Los principales resultados obtenidos revelan que la pandemia del COVID-19 ha tenido un impacto significativo y mensurable sobre el sector del transporte urbano en Riobamba, teniendo como a la cantidad de usuarios como la variable que más influye en la disminución de los ingresos, sin dejar de lado a la variable gastos que también es estadísticamente significativa.
