| Sammanfattning: | ABSTRACT Introduction: Acute appendicitis, described since 1886, is the most common surgical emergency. It has its highest incidence during young adulthood and its lowest incidence in children and older adults. Appendicitis is caused by the inflammation of an organ of the body called "Appendix," located near the colon and is small in size. It consists of a rash produced by an obstruction of toxic contents, retained fecally, and parasitology so damages the walls of the appendix. Objectives: To identify the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of acute appendicitis against the pathological findings to establish its correlation, contributing to the timely diagnosis of said pathology. Material and Methods: Non-experimental, descriptive, retrospective, correlational research in patients aged 15 to 95 who met the inclusion criteria. A population of 385 patients admitted to the surgery service was studied, in whom acute appendicitis was diagnosed, and an appendectomy was performed. The data were obtained from the statistical base of the Riobamba Provincial General Teaching Hospital. Conclusions: We were able to identify the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of acute appendicitis to contribute to the timely diagnosis of said pathology. A significant correlation with the result of the findings found in the histopathological report is presenting, also verifying that the initial clinical diagnosis of patients with appendicitis acute in the emergency service of the HPGDR has significant similarity with the final piece of the histopathological study. Keywords: Appendicitis, clinical picture, laboratory tests, histopathological findings. Reviewed by: Ms.C. Ana Maldonado León ENGLISH PROFESSOR C.I.0601975980 |
