Résumé:ABSTRACT: The objective of the current research was to determine the influence of occupational stress in the performance of employees at RIO HOTEL in Riobamba city. It was developed within the proactive critical paradigm under a qualitative approach and non-experimental design in an applied field research. The population was a universe of 10 workers of Rio Hotel, between 6 men and 4 women. Data collection was obtained through the Stressful Life Events Scale which was developed by Holmes and Rahé (1967), it consists in 23 items that present a list of potentially stressful events in which the respondent rates the psychological impact caused by the event from 0 to 100, has an α ≥ .70 that indicates an adequate level of internal consistency. The data obtained were analyzed in statistical tables and circular graphs, reaching the conclusion that occupational stress directly influences the performance of employees, since it impacts the ability to fulfill their tasks, or functions efficiently. and in the way in which the individuals manages their own emotions, affecting themselves and coworkers The solution proposal was framed in the realization of a relaxation techniques workshop that allows the staff to take a moment to reflect on their current situation, improve their self-esteem and present a sense of well-being that will be reflected in a better work performance within the Rio Hotel. and personal in their family and social nucleus Keywords: Work performance, stress, self-esteem, relaxation.
