Descripción
Summary:We examine the relationship between financial development and economic growth for the case of Ecuador, during the period 2000-2017, oriented on three main determinants of the financial system, such as: financial deepening, bancarization and financial density, as well as gross fixed capital formation as explanatory variable of the real sector of the economy. Each variable is analyzed in detail through tables and statistical graphs, allowing to perceive its development in the time of study. Because of its time series approach, a VEC econometric model is used, which despite the non-stationarity of the series, there is evidence of cointegration, therefore, it is established a positive and significant long-run equilibrium relationship between financial development and economic growth of Ecuador. Sections give the structure of the research: the first and second sections, detail the problems that gave rise to the research, the objectives, the justification, and importance of this study. The third section is composed of the state of the art, where the background of the research and theoretical framework for each variable is developed. In the fourth section, the methodology applied in the research, the analysis and discussion of results is explained, to later expose the relationship that exists between the variables. Finally, the fifth section details conclusions and recommendations that give relevance to future research.
