Resumo:The consumption of psychoactive substances and the inadequate use of free time among adolescents constitute significant public health concerns, adversely affecting their physical, emotional, and social development. The scarcity of comprehensive preventive interventions and specific research on these issues contributes to the persistence and rise of risk behaviors, ultimately compromising adolescents' quality of life. This study aimed to analyze substance use and leisure time management in this population, offering a theoretical overview and identifying, through empirical evidence, the most commonly used substances and patterns of free time utilization. A bibliographic and descriptive methodology was employed, using strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to select relevant studies from databases including Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Redalyc, SciELO, and Dialnet. Of 124 documents identified, 24 scientific articles were selected and assessed using the CRF-QS instrument. The findings reveal a high prevalence of substance use—particularly alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis—often linked to inadequate leisure activities, such as substance-associated gatherings, sedentary lifestyles, and excessive screen time. The study concludes that effective time management and the implementation of integrated preventive strategies involving families, schools, and communities are crucial for reducing substance use and fostering holistic adolescent well-being.
