| Summary: | Abstrac: The Sigsipamba La Loma sector, located in the central highlands of the country and belonging to the Guano canton in the province of Chimborazo, stands out for its agricultural activity and its varied climate, with temperatures ranging between 3°C and 22°C, this area faces extreme hydroclimatic events, such as intense cold and snowfall, which reduce temperatures and negatively affect the comfort of residents, especially in vernacular dwellings. The research focuses on the use of sheep wool as a thermal insulator, highlighting the evolution in the search for thermal comfort with new techniques and materials. A process of obtaining and cleaning of Creole sheep wool from the sector is carried out. To address these problems in the vernacular dwellings of the sector, two houses with thermal discomfort in their spaces were retrofitted. Temperatures were measured before and after the installation of the panels using Autodesk Ecotect Analysis software and an Elitech BT-3 thermohygrometer. A significant increase in internal temperature of 1°C to 5°C was observed in both houses No. 03 and No. 05. In addition, an estimated budget for the conditioning with sheep wool per square meter was prepared. The results showed that sheep wool has thermal insulation properties comparable to traditional materials, promoting sustainability by replacing conventional materials with renewable, recyclable and reusable alternatives. |
