Přidat tag | Shrnutí: | The depletion of water resources has intensified in recent years, while the demand for this resource has been increasing year after year. If measures are not taken in time, the availability of this resource in the future is uncertain, therefore, this study aims to determine the economic value of water resources in the San Antonio community of San Luis parish in the period 2022, through the calculation of the Willingness to Pay (WTP). The research starts with a theoretical review of the main concepts, theories and methods of environmental economic valuation; after this, through the contingent valuation method, 215 surveys were carried out with the heads of households of the community. To determine the maximum WTP and the variables that determine the Willingness to Pay, the econometric logit model was used through the maximum likelihood method. The results reveal that the maximum WTP is $1.17 per family per month and the variables that determine the economic value are gender, education, employment status, perception that the community members have regarding the importance of forests and vegetation cover for the existence of water and the hypothetical price, at the same time, these determinants allow the verification of the research hypothesis where the most significant ones are mentioned. The environmental economic value for the benefits provided by the Algodón Pogyo springs for the whole community is estimated at $251.55 monthly and $3018.6 annually, likewise it was determined that 90% of the heads of household are willing to pay for the environmental improvement in the springs, while only 10% express the opposite, these data give an indication to implement the project for the protection of the Algodón Pogyo ecosystems. |
