description ABSTRACT: Diabetes mellitus is a disease that is considered a pandemic since its incidence has been increasing over the years. This bibliographic research had a qualitative approach since data associated with the subject was also collected. It obtained a descriptive scope from the information related to the issue. It aimed to describe diabetes through bibliographic details as it is associated with the presence of COVID-19. Diabetes is closely associated with obesity, arterial hypertension, and this, in turn, triggers other conditions. Among these, we have kidney failure. Among others, the current panorama in which we live has been of great importance for this disease to get stronger, taking millions of deaths over the years. On the other hand, COVID-19 is currently a disease which, due to the level of infections. It was declared a pandemic in the first quarter of this year. One of the risk groups for this disease are patients who suffer from comorbidities, such as diabetes mellitus. That is why it was of great relevance to establishing the association of diabetes mellitus as a factor of morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19; the primary factors and hypotheses raised by several authors throughout the year 2020 were studied. This study's results were associated with these two pandemics with stress levels, physical deconditioning, Angiotensin Converting Enzymes 2 (ECA2), and Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 (DPP4).
