Análisis del imaginario ciudadano de Riobamba capital taurina del Ecuador en la identidad cultural, periodo abril 2016 – abril 2017.

The present work is a study base on the customs and traiditions of people from Riobamba city, with the purpose of analyzing how the imaginary citizen of “Riobamba Capital Taurina del Ecuador” affects the cutural identy of the inhabitants of the Riobamba city. The denomination of “Riobamba Capital Taurina del Ecuador” is given in the heart of the Municipal Council in 2011, with the aim of “promoting, retaining and preserving artistic and cultural wealth” statement by Councilor Rodrigo Abarca, this is complemented by historical records dating from the Independence period and ccelebrations under the Bullfighting Regulations that began in the city in 1924. The research was base don the inductive-deductive method that allowed to analyze in a particular way and then integrate its elements from a cultural identy perspective, the study population was 383 surveys and 6 interviews, which provided the opinión of experts in the subject in order to obtain objetive results. The design of the research was non-experimental since the variables were not manipulated. With this investigation, it was determined that the denomination of “Riobamba Capital Taurina del Ecuador” does not affect the cultural identity of the inhabitants of the canton Riobamba. Since 77.02% of the people surveyed are opposed to this kind of events and do not consider themselves part of a bullfighting city, data that concludes that the bullfighthing theme does not affect the Cultural Identy of the people from Riobamba city.
