| Sumari: | In the present research work entitled "The story as a teaching resource for reading comprehension in 10th grade students of the “Juan de Velasco" Educational Unit, it was proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of the story as a pedagogical tool in the fortification of reading comprehension. Through a descriptive level quantitative approach, a questionnaire was implemented to collect data from a group of 30 students belonging to the 10th grade “G” of the aforementioned educational institution. This study investigated teaching strategies based on stories such as "This is how the Universe Began" by Ana María Shua and "El Solitario" by Horacio Quiroga, which were used with the purpose of stimulating interest and motivation towards reading. In addition, measurements were carried out in the form of a pre-test and a post-test to determine the level of reading comprehension achieved. Complementary teaching techniques were implemented, such as the use of summaries and graphic organizers, as pedagogical resources aimed at enriching reading comprehension. The results emphasize that the story as a teaching resource has a unique quality to capture the attention of students, stimulate their imagination and promote analysis and critical reflection skills. In summary, this research concludes that the story as a teaching resource not only positively impacts the improvement of reading comprehension, but also contributes to the development of cognitive and emotional skills in students. The connection with the narrative worlds of stories encourages empathy and the internalization of moral values, enriching the ethical and social awareness of students in their educational process |
