Zusammenfassung: | The purpose of the following work is to identify and understand the intertextuality of the literary work “La hoguera bárbara” by the Ecuadorian author Alfredo Pareja Diezcanseco. To find intertextuality in the novel, Roland Barthes' method of intertextual analysis is used; this approach requires semiotic and formal ability to distinguish explicit and implicit references from other literary works and historical sources. The intertexts present in the work are essential to contextualize the plot and reinforce the themes and social criticism. Among the intertexts are the proclamations of Gabriel García Moreno, which show the political and religious power of that time and its influence on Ecuadorian society. Also included are Juan Montalvo's letters, which offer critical perspectives on the social and political reality of the country. The novel stands out for its focus on the historical reality of Ecuador, the author can transport readers to the past through meticulous research and authenticity in the recreation of the events and characters that shaped the country's history. The work uses narrative discourse to address critical and testimonial issues about Ecuadorian society, including problems and inequalities. |
