| Resumo: | This study examines the divergent interpretation of international norms on diplomatic immunities and state sovereignty, focusing specifically on the case of Ecuador and Mexico. The research is based on the premise that interpretative differences and the application of these norms can lead to diplomatic tensions and international conflicts. The primary objective is to identify the causes behind these divergent interpretations and propose recommendations for a more consistent and effective application of international norms in this area. The methodology employed combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing doctrinal legal analysis, case-specific reviews, and interviews with international law experts. The findings reveal that differences in the historical, political, and cultural contexts of Ecuador and Mexico have significantly influenced the interpretation and application of international norms. In Ecuador, the interpretation of diplomatic immunities tends to be more restrictive, whereas in Mexico, state sovereignty is frequently invoked to justify actions that might contravene international law. These divergences not only complicate bilateral relations but also challenge the international normative framework designed to promote cooperation and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. This research highlights the importance of a consistent interpretation of international norms on diplomatic immunities and state sovereignty, proposing concrete measures to improve the application of these norms and foster more harmonious and equitable international relations between Ecuador and Mexico. |
