The techniques and instruments of data collection were used: "Inventory of automatic thoughts (Ruíz and Lujan)" and "Self Esteem: Self-Exam Cirilo Toro Vargas".La presente investigación que lleva como tema “Pensamientos automáticos y autoestima de los adolescentes que asisten a dermatología del Hospital Provincial General Docente Riobamba, periodo septiembre 2015 – febrero 2016”, tiene como objetivo analizar la influencia de los pensamientos automáticos en la autoestima de los adolescentes; en el cual se trabajó con todos los adolescentes que eran diagnosticados con acné, con una población de 108 y una muestra de 25, los cuales fueron seleccionados tomando el criterio de asistir por primera vez a consulta dermatológica. La investigación fue llevada a cabo bajo el método científico, se ocupó los diseños cuantitativo y no experimental, el tipo de investigación utilizada fue de campo, documental y transversal, y el nivel de la investigación utilizado fue descriptivo.
