Crynodeb:RESUME The purpose of this research project was to analyze the level of personal knowledge and socio-family influence on the oral health status of second-year students of basic education in Sector 1 of the city of Riobamba. This research is descriptive and cross-sectional. The study population consisted of 100 students with their representative and a total of four teachers. The technique used was the observation with its instrument the medical records, additionally the test and the survey with its instrument, the questionnaire. The results indicated that there is a statistically significant correlation between the level of plaque and the level of caries of the students (p = 0.038), likewise a statistically significant association was determined between the degree of education of the father with the level of caries of the child (p = 0.016). Finally, no statistically significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge of teachers and that of students, both with the level of caries, and with the dental plaque index. It is concluded that the educational community shows an inadequate level of knowledge about oral health issues, additionally it is concluded that the level of caries in this sector of the city of Riobamba is defined for the most part as a medium together with poor oral hygiene.
