總結:Biosafety has become the topic with the most impact during 2020 because the covid19 was announced like a disease with highly contagious and spreading rapidly, the biosafety protocols when the pandemic called the most severe for several years occurred was modified especially in the health area. Objective: to verify compliance with the biosafety protocol in the management of Covid-19 positive surgical patients in the surgery area of the Hospital General Docente Riobamba in the period from April to July 2020. Material and Methods: The study has a descriptive cross-sectional scope. The research is of a quantitative-qualitative type, a survey of knowledge and practice was applied, this being one of the most used techniques in research, which allows obtaining direct responses from the study population made up of 54 health professionals from the surgery area of the Hospital General Docente Riobamba, the data tabulation was done in the Excel program. Results: the data reflected in the survey provide us with the information that 59% of the personnel know the correct meaning of a biosafety protocol, for this reason only 48% of the total sample can distinguish the principles of biosafety, 87% comply the established guidelines regulations, 78% qualify the biosafety regulations for the management of covid-positive patients between the range of fair and bad, 94% of the population affirm that there is no biosafety protocol for this area and in a 78% agree on the lack of stations for hand washing and 70% affirm that there is not an adequate supply of germicidal soap. Conclusions: when carrying out the research project, the need to design a biosafety protocol that meets the necessary characteristics to protect the health of the personnel who is directly exposed and can be implemented after its approval in the surgery area of the Hospital.
