Sexismo y su relación con el género

Sexism is related to the ideology of being a man or a woman; and gender refers to the characteristics that each culture assigns to individuals to prioritize roles. At global and national level there are high scales of sexism and at the local level the investigations are scarce. The project was carried out through a bibliographic review with the objective of describing sexism and its relationship with gender in young people, with a quantitative approach and synthetic analytical method, the type of study was documentary. The population consisted of 275 scientific documents, including articles from scientific journals and postgraduate theses collected in databases such as Scielo, Redalyc, Dialnet, Google Scholar, Elsevier and ProQuest, which have been published between the years 2013-2023. Documents were chosen based on selection criteria and the sample was non-probabilistic and intentional type made up of 70 scientific documents. To guarantee the methodological quality, the CRF-QS method (Critical review form - Quantitative Studies) was applied. As a result, it was obtained that sexism and gender are linked and the maintenance of benevolent sexist ideas causes the predominance of psychological violence. Moreover, benevolent sexist attitudes are found in both genders, however, in the male gender hostile sexism prevails and in the female gender benevolent sexism, finally sexism affects mental health, because mental illnesses predominate in one gender more than in the other.
