Opis
Izvleček:Currently, the competitiveness between construction companies or consultants requires the ability to perform a job as soon as possible. Nowadays, structural engineers carry out their designs using various commercial computational tools; however, the levels of productivity that are achieved when using each of the design software have not been widely discussed in previous studies, or the launching of new software versions makes that productivity studies must be continually updated. In this investigation, an evaluation of comparative productivity is made through the use of two software (software "C" and software "E") for the analysis and structural design of regular reinforced concrete buildings of two, three and four floors, intended for homes. For the evaluation of productivity, five civil engineers with experience in the use of the two computer programs; which were considered in this study, who were asked to perform the analyzes and designs of three buildings, and three productivity indicators were verified: time of analysis and design, the attributes of the software, and the quality of the obtained results. The results indicate that the productivity of a structural designer can be raised by using software with a friendly graphical interface, and that it simplifies the required steps in modeling. On the other hand, the quality of the results is lower when the software simplifies the steps and is not flexible when establishing calculation parameters, which tends to increase the final cost of the structures.
