Description
Summary:ABSTRAC Anemia is a hematological condition that occurs when there is a decrease in the number of red blood cells. It tends to be a common pathology during kidney disease in advanced stages, due to the progressive damage suffered by the kidney, preventing the circulating blood from being filtered correctly and is characterized by being mainly normocytic, normochromic, with low levels of hemoglobin, variations in the values of the hematimetric indices and complementary tests such as the iron profile, due to the small amount of erythropoietin released. This research was carried out through a bibliographic review to compile reliable documentation on the clinical laboratory results used in diagnostic aid. Descriptive, documentary and non-experimental, cross-sectional, retrospective study. 62 scientific articles were reviewed and 52 were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The information was reviewed in databases such as Scielo, Elsevier, Redalyc, Google academic, Dialnet, Infomed, journals specialized in Nephrology among others with academic validity. The results obtained showed that anemia in renal failure has a higher epidemiology rate when it is in stages 4 and 5, being more common in adults. The importance of laboratory tests for its detection is highlighted, the most used procedures include reticulocyte count, blood count, differential formula, which allow analyzing the functionality of the erythrocytes in terms of their size, color and shape, taking into account the rate of glomerular filtration. Keywords: anemia, erythropoietin, blood count, renal failure, hemoglobin.
