| الملخص: | The objective of this research project is to analyze the book entitled Brevísima relación de la destrucción de las Indias, in order to identify its impact within the historiographic construction of the American continent in relation to the process of the Spanish conquest. The methodology used was the historical method of analytical character that allowed us to compile; evidences, arguments and theories that support or disqualify a certain fact or event of universal history. The stages of the historical method that were used are quite delimited and these are: heuristics, criticism, hermeneutics, and the final phase known as the expository part. The results we have obtained as a result of our research can be summarized in three aspects: First, the theoretical factors that greatly influenced the writing of the Brevísima relación de la destrucción de las Indias, were the following; the humanist theory and the theory of natural law. Second, the impact caused by this work can be summarized in two aspects; the political impact that was reflected in the colonial policies that were applied at that time in favor of the Native Americans, and the philosophical impact that ended up provoking a great ethical and moral debate, which questioned the work of the Spanish crown within the Indies. Third, after contrasting the arguments that the Dominican defended with respect to the most recent historiography on the Conquest of America, it has been determined that the great majority of his postulates do not have support, nor complete bibliographical sources that make them credible. After a thorough comparison of the main denunciations and accusations presented by the religious against Spain, it has been determined that they were neither reliable nor true, since the data were highly exaggerated. |
