Propuesta metodológica para la elaboración de un inventario preliminar del Archivo Histórico “Juan Félix Proaño” de la Casa de la Cultura de Riobamba

National University of Chimborazo. Riobamba-Ecuador. This research work intends to make known the existence of the documentary sources of Riobamba, through the methodological proposal to elaborate a preliminary inventory of the Juan Félix Proaño Historical Archive that rests in the House of Culture, Chimborazo nucleus, considering the importance of recover, organize and preserve the historical memory and identity of the Riobamba city and its inhabitants, through all the documentary series contained in this archive from the 16th century. This research was of a correlational type, with a descriptive design and corresponds to a case report: the AHJFP where the existing documentary collection reviewed for the construction of a methodological proposal for the preliminary inventory, as well as documentary description instruments based on the principles archival and technical standards. The survey and the interview measured the level of access to historical information, as well as its level of organization and protection. 60% of the historical documentation of the AHJFP is in the process of classification and the remaining 40% still does not have any type of documentary process. The need to have a general inventory that allows adequate access to the file information is determined, as well as the need to have an internal control of the documentation to avoid losses and deterioration of it.
