| Тойм: | Cardiovascular diseases, eminent global public health challenges, are the leading cause of mortality. This research addresses the increasing prevalence, particularly in Ecuador, by examining behavioral risk factors and proposing the Mediterranean diet as a preventive strategy. A rigorous methodology is used based on the critical review of scientific literature, emphasizing advanced search tools and methodological principles applied to health sciences. This approach seeks to provide a comprehensive view of how different dietary patterns influence the development and modulation of cardiovascular risk factors. The research focuses on the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases in Ecuador, proposing diet as a modifiable factor and highlighting its potential impact on preventing and controlling these diseases. This research aimed to carry out a bibliographic review to identify the specific effects of diets on cardiovascular risk factors and their repercussions with their use. For this, systematic descriptive research was carried out, consisting of a bibliographic review of documents published in the last five years up to the current one. One hundred forty-five papers related to the topic were identified, of which ten were used for this study. The information was acquired from regional databases (Scielo, Latindex) and high-impact sources (Proquest, PubMed, Web of Science). The research's primary results identify the effects of various diets on clinical and physiological parameters, allowing the critical points of action to be determined to prevent them. It is concluded that the selection of diets must respond to the needs and objectives to be achieved in each individual, crucial for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, together with habits that promote healthy lifestyles. |
