Saberes ancestrales de cuidadoras de niños de 1 a 5 años con enfermedades diarreicas agudas, Riobamba 2019

The ancestral knowledge has been practiced for many centuries in our country, It refers to all the knowledge that the indigenous communities possess and have been transmitted from generation to generation. The research was carried out to determine the ancestral knowledge used by caregivers of children between the ages of one and five relate to the care of acute diarrheal disease. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, with a quantitative approach, in which an expert validated survey was used as an instrument. The study population was made up of 50 caregivers to whom a survey was applied based on ancestral knowledge in children with diarrhea. In the sociodemographic characteristics, the female gender predominates, age between 31 to 40 years and indigenous self-identification. As a result, it was identified that caregivers in relation to knowledge about diarrhea, 58% know it, in terms of cultural affiliation syndrome, 48% believe that it is caused by bad air, regarding the method, technique and procedure of Ancestral practices, 36% perform clean with plants and prepare infusion of guava leaf. Concluding that the caretakers know the cultural affiliation syndrome that is the cause of diarrhea such as the evil eye, bad air, horror and for the diagnosis and treatment they clean with the egg, guinea pig, plants, tobacco, chili and candle. They also offer infusions of medicinal plants, especially guava, chamomile, oregano, celery among others.
