Samenvatting:Water infiltration plays a fundamental role in run off processes in response to a given c in a basin, depending on its magnitude rains of equal intensities may produce different flow rates. So it is also the study of aquifer recharge. Infiltration depends on many factors, so its reliable estimate is quite difficult and it is impossible to obtain a unique relationship among all the parameters which determine. In this sense, the process of water infiltration into the soil has been intensively studied because of its importance in water management. Infiltration is called the movement takes water from the surface into the soil at atmospheric pressure, this natural phenomenon depends mainly on the amount of water available to infiltrate, sort of soil, surface condition and saturation level thereof. This research focuses on the analysis of the various soil types present in the neighborhoods Langos Chico San José belonging to the parish El Rosario, canton Guano and San Pedro Las Abras belonging to the parish Juan de Velasco, canton Riobamba, and obtaining infiltration speeds characteristic of each ones, associating their granulometry and texture, using the method AASHTO classification of soils. Immediately after the analysis of 40 samples that represent the two studied districts, it has been determined the representation of 4 sorts of soils that are: A-3 (Fine Sand) 23.08%, A-2-4 (Gravels and Silty Clayey Sand) with 66.67%, A-2-6 (Gravels and Silty Clayey Sand) present in 2.56% and finally A-4 (Loamy Soil) 2.56% Through this research it has determined the infiltration rate ranges for the types of soils mentioned above, so that the floor A3 (Fine Sand) infiltration rate fluctuates between 96.00-576.00 mm / h, for soil of A-2-4 type (Silty Clayey Ggravels and Sands) value ranges from 72.00-300 mm / h, on the A-2-6 ground (Silty Clayey Gravel and Sand) the infiltration rate obtained is 132.00 mm / h and finally on the soil A-4 type (Slimy Soil) the value of infiltration rate is 84.00 mm / h.
