La catedral de Riobamba como Patrimonio Cultural en el imaginario Colectivo de los Riobambeños, período enero – junio 2018

The present research work entitled “The Cathedral of Riobamba as cultural heritage in the collective imagination of the riobambeños, period January - June 2018”. This research begins with the analysis of the Cathedral, this physical space is an icon of the city and it represents the Riobamba history, also it is a way of construction of identity of the riobambeños, so it is necessary to maintain and preserve this heritage place. The method applied is the inductive and deductive. The types of research correspond to a documentary, field and descriptive process. The methodology was based on a non-experimental design. The techniques used were the survey and interview for data collection, which were applied to 399 inhabitants of the Riobamba canton and three specialists, subsequently, an analysis and interpretation of the collected data was carried out, a discussion of results was established and conclusions and recommendations were raised. This research determined that the inhabitants of Riobamba know the Cathedral and highlight the historical, cultural, artistic and religious value that possesses; the same ones that are transmitted by generations creating at the present time belonging and identity in the people who live in our city. Another finding identified was that, 93% of respondents recognize the Cathedral as a cultural heritage and maintain this building in the collective imagination. To finalize the present research project, an audiovisual communication product was elaborated with the objective of highlighting, strengthening and disseminating the historical, cultural and patrimonial value of the Cathedral of Riobamba
