| Summary: | Pre-eclampsia is a medical complication of pregnancy where tensional numbers are 140 and/or 90 mmHg higher than the usual and generally occurs after 20 weeks of gestation. It considered an asymptomatic pathology, but when it already has signs and symptoms, we are referring to a pre-eclampsia with signs of severity which can be: headache, acuphenes, edema, abdominal pain, among others. It is a cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. The worldwide rate of pregnancies is 46 births per 1,000 adolescents, in Latin America it is 66.5 births per 1,000 adolescents between 15 and 19 years old, in Ecuador according to the Ministry of Public Health in 2018 413,318 births were registered alive of adolescents, between 10 to 19 years old, of which 1,446 belong to the Province of Chimborazo Objectives: Determine the incidence and complications of pre-eclampsia in adolescent females. Material and Methods: A quantitative and descriptive study conducted since we determined the prevalence and risks of pre-eclampsia in adolescent women, having 42 expectant females between 10 and 19 years old addressed at the “San Luis” Health Center between January and December 2018. Results: From 42 patients addressed at “San Luis” health center, 97,61% had normal arterial pressure of SBP 90 - 139/ DBP 60 - 85 mmHg while 2,38% had high blood pressure of SBP 140 - 159/ DBP 90 - 110 mmHg. Conclusion: High blood pressure considered a significant factor TO develop pre-eclampsia in adolescents. |
