Descripció
Sumari:This research project aims to analyze bicycle tourism as a motivation for tourists in the parish of La Matriz, Alausí canton, province of Chimborazo. Information was collected from various documentary sources, and a descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design was adopted. The methodology used was non-experimental, with a mixed approach, which made it possible to obtain both quantitative and qualitative data. The techniques and instruments used in the study were two different surveys focused on tourists and visitors to the Alausí canton and the other on a group of cyclists. The interviews were applied to members of the Culture and Tourism Unit of the Alausí canton. Among the most important results, we can highlight that 82.2% of those surveyed highly value acquiring knowledge, skills, and abilities when visiting a destination, which opens the possibility of creating and selling educational or cultural cycling routes. It was concluded that the main motivations of tourists visiting Alausí are associated with its natural and cultural attractions and significantly influence the practice of the activity; it was observed that the infrastructure of the canton has a direct impact on the choice of destination, which highlights the importance of improving and adapting services to take advantage of the tourism potential. In this sense, bicycle tourism is presented as a sustainable option that not only benefits tourists but also significantly contributes to the local community.
