Gaia:The results obtained in this research work “Critical reading in the development of reading comprehension in boys and girls of cuarto año de Educación Básica, de la Unidad Educativa “Juan de Velasco” arc made known. It contains the introduction; tables and graphs according to the objectives are shown, different activities that will help the development of reading comprehension was identified, by hypothesis testing it was determined that critical reading influences the development of reading comprehension. Scientific, deductive, inductive, analytic, and synthetic methods were used. For data collection Observation Guide and Observation sheet was used. After some findings, diagnosis is identified as the highest percentage of boys and girls find it difficult to interpret the characters in the text, because it is not developing adequate motivation and transmission of these practical concepts, making it difficult to reading comprehension. A manual of strategies critical reading in boys and girls as tool for teachers is made. In order to they can apply them in the classroom. Then there arc the conclusions obtained with this research work and the respective suggestions with the aim of improving processes in the development of reading comprehension, encouraging an interest in understanding a text and apply it in real life, showing practical activities that allow boys and girls a development in the understanding of a text.
