| Zusammenfassung: | The present study evaluated the water quality in the micro-basin of the Llin Llin River in Colta parish. The study looked at aquatic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators. The researcher used geographic information systems where ten sampling stations were established in the micro-basin, considering strategic areas, land use coverage, and accessibility. Using a D-net type network, the researcher collected organisms during August, September, October 2023, and January 2024. The number of aquatic macroinvertebrates collected was 16830, distributed in 12 groups and 31 families. The most representative families were Chironomidae, with 60,26 % (10142 individuals), followed by Ceratopogonidae with 13,68 % (2303 individuals), Baetidae with 7,36 % (1239 individuals), Elmidae with 4,96% (834 individuals) and 13,74 % (2312 individuals) were distributed among the other families. Applying the BMWP index, the researcher determined that the quality of the water is of an acceptable quality, considering that it is moderately contaminated water. In contrast, the ABI index proves to be an adequate tool to evaluate water quality in the micro-basin, especially considering its recommended application for high Andean rivers located at more than 2000 m.s.n.m, while the study area is between 3240 m.s.n.m. and 4230 m.s.n.m. The results obtained through this index indicate that the water quality in most stations is acceptable, except stations Em1 and Em7, where the recording showed a regular water quality. The evaluation of water quality in the Llin Llin micro-basin, carried out using the BMWP and ABI indices, revealed that the water is moderately polluted. This pollution is directly related to the anthropic activities and land uses predominant in the study area, such as short-cycle crops, cultivated pasture and paramo. These findings underscore the need for sustainable land use practices to preserve water quality. |
