Descripció
Sumari:Allergic rhinitis is a chronic condition that has increased its incidence markedly in recent decades, becoming a significant public health problem due to its high frequency and the negative effect it has on the well-being and development of children. The present study aimed to identify the most relevant risk factors influencing the occurrence of allergic rhinitis in children, through a structured literature review of research published between 2019 and 2025. Both national and international studies were analysed, highlighting the importance of family history of atopic disease, exposure to air pollutants, passive smoking, early antibiotic use and lack of exclusive breastfeeding. These findings provide a better understanding of the determinants of this pathology and suggest priority areas for prevention and clinical management. In addition, housing and social conditions that favour the development of this pathology were identified. Since several of these factors are preventable, intervention strategies aimed at promoting children's health can be proposed. Finally, the study points to the need to strengthen local scientific production and to implement public policies that prioritise prevention, timely diagnosis and correct treatment of allergic rhinitis in children.
